About Allurion Balloon

Allurion Balloon is a swallowable weight loss balloon that is the least invasive treatment in the current market which requires no surgery, no anaesthesia and no endoscopy. Swallowing it at the size of a capsule, it will then inflate with 550ml of buffered water through the catheter to inflate the balloon. It will reduce the intragastric volume and therefore lowering the overall food intake for the patient. This will help the patient to feel full and control their appetite.

How Does Allurion Balloon Work?

Allurion Balloon doesn’t require any form of surgery, endoscopy or anaesthesia. It requires an X-Ray to ensure that the capsule is in the right place inside.

Once swallowed, the doctor will use the catheter to fill up the balloon with buffered water and a second X-Ray takes place to confirm that the balloon is properly filled. Upon confirmation, the doctor will gently remove the tube.

The whole balloon placement takes only 20-minutes. The patient will need to swallow a capsule that contains the deflated balloon with a thin tube attached to it. (catheter).

After a period of 4 months, a time-activated valve will open in the balloon, which allows the fluids to escape, causing the balloon to deflate and pass naturally through your digestive system.
